Shoulder Bursitis

Shoulder Bursitis TreatmentShoulder bursitis is characterized by shoulder pain, tenderness, and possible swelling over the area.

Shoulder pain can occur at the top, front, or side of the shoulder. Direct shoulder injury or repetitive shoulder motions are the main causes of shoulder bursitis.

The bursa is a small sac filled with synovial fluid that helps cushion the tendons and muscles as they move over particularly bony areas. Inflammation of the bursa can be very painful. Many activities can lead to shoulder bursitis such as golf, tennis, squash, pitching, swimming, and weight training.

Our Approach

Bursitis is an inflammatory condition that usually responds well to ice and rest.

Pain management is important, but addressing the overuse issue or the biomechanical fault is critical to successful treatment.

Rehabilitative exercises are integrated to improve any muscle imbalances, while soft tissue treatments and improvements to the joint mechanics are essential for healing to allow you to get back to your activity as soon as possible.
